CS244 ’18: Elastic Cloud WAN: Squid

Wide Area Networks (WANs) are a necessity to large organizations with global presence. They provide security and performance for the organization’s internal communications. Traditionally, these networks are constructed for fixed capacity leading to over provisioning. We present a dynamically scalable alternative: Squid. We show that Squid can easily beat the performance of the public Internet with respect to throughput and discuss its implementation and limitations.
